The
Center of Social Expertise and Prognosis (CSEP)
was founded as a department of the National Academy of Science with the purpose
of development and implementation of a social expertise program, creation of a
social rates system and monitoring of various regional and national projects.
Since
inception, the Center has
implemented twelve projects of national and regional levels for the total amount
of US$ 320,000.
The orders of these projects were international organizations such as UNO,
USAID, International Fund “Renaissance ”, Fund “Eurasia” and
governmental structures of Ukraine.
The
Center accomplishes projects of scientific research and application-oriented
character, runs a publishing business, conducts marketing research and holds
conferences, seminars and presentations.
The
central strategic purpose of the Center is the establishment of a national board
of experts, monitoring of social development and creation of a social rate
system.
The Center is a leading research public establishment for the problems of
social expertise of national programs and projects.
The mission of the Center consists of establishment of a social rates
system aimed to estimate the quality of social policy of Ukraine.
Highly qualified specialists work at the Center, among them: sociologists; specialists of political science; economists; and, philosophers. There are ten permanent workers, three of whom hold Ph. Ds. The Director of the CSEP is Y. Privalov, Ph.D. in philosophy. The research advisor of the Center is Ph.D. in economics and professor Y. Sajenko.
The
Center has two regional offices: in Donetsk (the Southeastern region) and in
L’viv (the Western region), in which highly qualified professionals and
watchers hold their activity.
The Center is experienced in effective running of study grants that
provide financial accounting.
The following are among the projects carried out by the Center:
“Residence
subsidies program” ordered by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the firm
“PADKO”, under financial support of USAID, total sum of the study grant
amounts to US$ 50,000.
Monitoring
of social and labor relations in Ukraine (1997) ordered by MOP and Ministry of
Labor of Ukraine, under financial support of UNO, total sum of the study grant
amounts to US$ 18,000.
“Political
elite of the country: problems of local self-government”, ordered by the
Program of Promotion of Ukrainian Parliament and Indiana University (1996-1997),
under financial support of USAID and International fund “Renaissance”, total
sum of the study grant amounts to US$ 8,000.
“Social
and psychological influences of the accident on CAPS (Chernobyl Atomic Power
Station) : models of survival”, ordered by the Ministry of States of Emergency
of Ukraine, total sum of financial support amounts to
US$ 70,000.
International
conference “Local self government in the present-day political system of
Ukraine and Byelorus”, under financial support of the Fund “Eurasia”, the
total sum of the study grant amounts to US$ 6,000.
